Hadi Susanto was born and raised in Lumajang, East Java, Indonesia
(see the beauty of the region here).
He earned his BSc (2001) in Mathematics from Institut Teknologi Bandung, where he completed his
undergraduate thesis under the supervision of Barbera van de Fliert and Edy Soewono. He pursued his
postgraduate studies (MSc, 2003; PhD, 2006) in Applied Mathematics at the University of Twente,
under the supervision of Stephan van Gils.
From 2005 to 2007, he was a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics
at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, mentored by Panos Kevrekidis. He then joined the University
of Nottingham as a Lecturer in Applied Mathematics (2008-2013), before moving to the University of Essex,
where he served as a Senior Lecturer and later became a Professor of Applied Mathematics. He is currently
a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Khalifa University.
He also holds adjunct/honorary professorships at Institut Teknologi Sumatera (ITERA) and the University
of Indonesia (UI), serves on the ITB Advisory Board, and is an Associate Editor for the IMA Journal of
Applied Mathematics, Optical and Quantum Electronics, Frontiers in Photonics, and Communications in
Biomathematical Sciences.
He also enjoys writing literature, including poetry, prose, and essays. Covers of books that contain
